 Last Update: 10/06/02

A Plays go 2-1

A&B Picks go 7-4 for 64%!

Minnesota Gophers A+  (Thursday)  W

West Virginia  L

San Francisco  W

Monday Night Pick:  Green Bay

Early Bird Picks:   Purdue

Update 10/06/02 Well the West Virginia pick on Saturday was a real dog - Don't like it when we miss a call that bad.  Maryland was able to get off some big plays against them in the first quarter and that turned the momentum for good. However we did well enough with our other plays to end up in the black for the weekend...again :)   Saturday our dog picks went 3 for 4 with two outright upsets - Buffalo missed a cover by that much (1 point).  On Sunday San Fran dominated the struggling Rams and Indy looked good, but Cincy got the backdoor cover.  I think this Sunday was the first time we have ever not picked a dog in the NFL...good thing too, cause the ones we were looking at failed.

Update 10/02/02 We've done our homework and we have our A+ play, Minnesota. The game kicks off this Thursday, so were posting early. Will update later in the week.  We've hit em all (A&B plays), regardless of ranking, for 4%; In addition we're going with an A play ticket for 1%.

Early Bird picks which we have already hit for 4%:   NCAA  (Thur) Minnesota  Gophers, OklahomaArkansas (+) Buffalo (+), The Razorbacks will probably drop to a dozen soon and I wouldn't be in a hurry to hit it at that, while the Sooners could end up giving more than two td's, but we'd still like it even then. Illinois, which would be an average Sun Belt team, is going to get crushed this Thursday, we might upgrade Minnesota to an A play.  The Bulls play very good at home and should give WM a battle.  NFL: San Francisco We found this at an even TD, but it will go higher soon. The problems in St Louis can be traced directly to a lack of blocking; This is not something Martz will be able to fix any time soon.  We'll update again by Thursday morning.

Peace & Prosperity to all,

MISSION STATEMENT:  We give our NFL football picks against the Vegas line, and College football picks against Vegas odds every week.  Be aware that this is a dynamic site, we actively upgrade/downgrade the selections through out the week.   Check in by the middle of the week for a listing of games we have selected, AND be sure to check in before game time, as very often one or both of us will zone in on a play the day before kick-off.  We'll make 1-15 combined College and Pro football picks a week. We do not promise to pick 100% winners. However, historically we will pick a majority of winners over the course of the year.  Expectations are too pick a simple majority, a 54-66%  winning ratio is a realistic goal.   You will serve as our sports monitor, all of our picks will be stored on a weekly basis in the "Past Picks" link at the bottom of this page.  A free Message Board is provided specifically to insure our credibility - if you have a question about a pick, post it on the board (or e-mail us).  This page is a  no-nonsense banner free site.  We don't recommend a service or affiliate with casinos--it's just us baby.

Two seasons ago I received an e-mail saying he "needed a winner", asking on a scale of 1-10 "how strong" our A+ play was this week.  I replied that it's wrong about 30% of the time--so it must be a "7".  Unfortunately that weeks play was in the 30% category.  Folks there's no such thing as a lock--if you need one then you're in the wrong place and playing the wrong game.  I strongly recommend a short read on Money Management linked via "Vegas Tips" at the bottom of this page.

A rated games are plays that we feel very strongly about.

B rated games are plays we feel pretty good about.

comments

@Minnesota   W 10/2/02 (Thursday)  We went against Minnesota last week but like them in this spot as our A+ play of the week. A good Minnesota team taking on an Illini squad that is struggling in all facets of it's game.
@West Virginia   L We considered WV for an A play, and still may upgrade it. We were on Maryland last year but it looks like they've lost that magic touch. The Mountaineers will be able to run at will, giving us a solid strength on weakness advantage WV can exploit

B rated plays:

Team W/L comments
Arkansas (+)   W posted 9/29/02 We jumped on this when we saw it at almost two TD's, it's dropped since then but we still like the Razorbacks getting double digits. They'll give the Volunteers all they can handle.
@Buffalo (+)   L The Bulls are a much better team at home and will stay within the generous number
Penn State (+)   W The lions are the better team, with a chip on their shoulders and will win the game outright.
Oklahoma   L Looking for a dominating performance from the Sooners. We're not concerned about the look ahead (Texas on deck) and think the Tigers will have a lot of trouble finding the endzone
@Colorado (+)   W Nice spot for the Buffaloes who play much better in the spoiler roll, could pull the outright upset
@Bowling Green   W Big Al's Pounder    We're not detoured by the heavy number. The Falcons may not have to punt the entire game!

ALSO LIKES:   Hawaii,  CSU,  South Carolina,  Pittsburgh,  Oregon,  Clemson,  Florida,  South Florida

NFL        10/06/02    "A" rated play

Team W/L Comments
@San Francisco   W The Niners have a good D-line, bad news for a team that would have trouble blocking a good high school line.

B rated plays:

Team W/L Comments
@Indianapolis   L Big Al's Pounder We called for Indy to lose their home opener and two weeks ago and Miami delivered for us. Indy will hold nothing back against the reeling Bungals and will deliver their first home win of the year.
@Miami   W This one may not be dominating on the scoreboard, but it will be won for Miami in the trenches.  Belichicks team gives up yardage between the 20's but tightens up in the redzone;  But that is all Norv Turner will need, with a kicker like Mare, to establish a division lead over their principal division rival

ALSO LIKES:     Atlanta - ML,  San Diego,  KC,  Cleveland,  New Orleans, Green Bay
