FREE NFL PICKS  &  COLLEGE  FOOTBALL  PICK'S

2001 Archives wk7

week ending 10/29/01

10 for 16 overall for 63%, A plays go 4-0 for 100%.  Another great weekend.

Update 10/22/01:  A nice weekend overall and a good shot in the arm with our posted "A" play 3 pick cashing in.  Our late update NFL totals play GB/Minn was a push for us at 48.   We appreciate hearing from those that cashed in with our help. Congratulations to everybody--we're working diligently towards another profitable weekend.  We jumped on Boston College at less than a FG hosting the Irish. We also like Boise St at home at less than 17 but feel this one might be fairly close to the number as Nevada is playing better than their record would indicate and the line is fat due to the Bronco's upset at FSU.  We're analyzing several match-ups and have posted our early leans in the "Also like" sections.  We'll update on Wednesday morning with the bulk of our selections.  Tonight we're leaning lightly towards New York.

Update 10/24/01:  Again many hours were invested gleaning the best plays on the board. Once again we have several picks we feel very comfortable with.  We're putting 3% on all of our picks with a 1% 4 teamer on the A plays.

Update 10/25/01:  We've looked hard at Thursdays & Fridays collegiate games. We're leaning towards Miami on Thursday and Fresno St. on Friday.  Since we posted our Wednesday morning update we are a bit smug to see all three of our A plays have made significant line moves. Boston College and New Mexico  now cost a FG plus, SMU moved into double digits, and Wake Forest has dropped below a touchdown.  It's nice to get that extra value by being an early player;  Which is exactly why we like to post our plays early.   Boise St is the biggest mover on the board, opening at 15.5 and going to 20.5--we hit that one lightly early and are now playing the middle via a three teamer (1%).    Big Bad B. Sanborn from the East coast likes the Yankees in Five.  He's been right so far... 5, 5, & 5 the Yankee Guru says.

Good luck, Peace, and God Bless the USA

College Football Pick's    10/27/01   "A"  rated plays

Team W/L comments
@Wake Forest(+) vs Clemson  W The Deacons lead the ACC in rushing offense with three RB's averaging over four ypc, while the Tigers (essentially a one man team)  haven't been able to stop the run all year. Despite their record WF has been playing sound ball and we'll take the points against a team on the road who have been finger pointing at home.    Deacons (+)    A Play
@SMU vs UTEP  W UTEP hasn't been playing well on the road and this is the Miners 3rd road game in four weeks. The Mustangs are rested coming off a bye for this HC contest. We don't mind laying a TD with a team that plays their best ball on their home field and feel it should've been at least two.  Mustangs by 21   A Play
@New Mexico vs Air Force  W The Lobos have a very very good run defense and have had two weeks to prepare for their homecoming game against the run oriented Falcons. New Mexico has a solid history of playing well against Air Force as a dog and this year they are the better team.  The Falcons are on the road for the 4th time in 5 weeks, and they host arch rival Army next weekend.  Our numero uno best play on the board.   Lobos by 13   A+ Play

BYU vs SDSU          W SDSU can't keep up with the high flying cougar O.       B+ Play
@Boston College vs N Dame  W Posted 10/22/01 Notre Dame has looked good recently but all three of their wins have been at home against weak teams.  BC is playing well and they get up for the Irish. We're posting this one early because we feel it will go to a FG before kick-off.
Mississippi (+) vs LSU  W The underrated Rebels are playing damn good ball. They should give the Tigers all they can handle.
Louisville vs Cincinnati  W Everyone knows Louisville has a high flying O, but the Cardinals defense is solid and that will be the difference in this contest.
Ball St vs UConn           L Connecticut lost at home to Buffalo. Ball St is much improved this year. We're a little concerned about the letdown factor else this would have been an A Play.
S Carolina (+) vs Tennessee  W We'll take the Gamecocks and a TD against anybody in the land. Holtz lives for these situations.
Oklahoma (+) vs Nebraska  L NU is a run orientated team and their starting TE and FB are hurting for this marquee match-up.  Oklahoma has the team speed on defense to shut down the Cornhusker option.
@Wyoming (+) vs UNLV  L Update 10/26/01 The Cowboys may not have a Dee but UNLV has struggled a bit on offense. Wyoming will be able to move the ball through the air on the Rebels and we like them to stay in this contest and perhaps pull out the straight up win.
@Purdue vs Northwestern  L Update 10/26/01 Boilermakers have a solid defense and a very good O.  We like them to shine in this spot and don't mind laying less than a TD.

ALSO LIKES:   Boise St, Arkansas, Buffalo, Maryland, Toledo,  Temple, Virginia Tech,  Kent, Utah,  LU Tech, SJSU, WSU, CFU, Baylor

Oakland(+) vs Philadephia  W Nice situation for Oakland.  Philly is coming off a huge emotional win on Monday night against a division team they had lost to 9 consecutive times, and they travel to division rival Arizona next week to avenge an embarrassing home loss. Oakland is undefeated under Gruden off a bye and is solid as a road dog.

@San Diego vs Buffalo  L The Chargers are playing good ball while Buffalo is struggling this year. Lots of dynamics in this match up but they shouldn't cloud the fact that San Diego is the much better team.
@Pittsburgh vs Tennessee Monday Night  W Update 10/27/01 We like the Steelers giving up an even FG.  Their defense is playing extremely well. Neil O'Donnell doesn't have a lot of weapons to throw to, Pittsburgh will stack the line and force O'Donnell to throw. This one could get ugly.
N.E. (+) @Denver  L Tom Brady may be a better fit for the Patriot O than Bledsoe. Griese is hurt and Denver only has Rod Smith at receiver. We like the Patriot D to keep them in this contest.

ALSO LIKES:  Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Arizona, Under StL/NO, Under CHI/SanFran, Tampa Bay, NYJ
